The Ripple Effect: The Teddy Bear Affair 2017

posted on November 28th 2017 in Events with 0 Comments

Once again, it is our favourite time of year – The Teddy Bear Affair. This black-tie gala is an annual event for both the office staff and our reps! It is a spectacular night out. The Teddy Bear Affair is put on by the Children’s Aid Foundation every November in Toronto. The proceeds from that evening go towards the lives of children and youth in the child welfare system in Canada.

According to the Children’s Aid Foundation, “The over 67,000 children and youth in care in Canada often grow up in difficult and damaging circumstances. Sometimes this means that being homeless is better than being at home. Compounding this trauma is the sense of isolation that comes from not having the stable support of friends or family that most of us take for granted.”

This year’s theme was the ripple effect. With everything everyone does, there is always a ripple effect. They had a spectacular reflection pool with beautiful ice sculptures that were dropping a little bit of water and causing ripples to demonstrate this. As well, guests of the gala could purchase small tea lights to light up the pool. Once you dropped the light in, the ripple effect would continue. There was a large silent and almost silent auction with so many great prizes available from exotic trips to autographed jerseys to beautiful pieces of jewelry.

So how exactly does G of G Inc participate in this event? Well, with what we do best! Sell! Every year, G of G Inc sponsors the event as it remains very close to our CEO’s heart. Our brand ambassadors sell raffle teddy bears to guests at the event for a chance to win different raffle prizes. The first prize this year was a $16,000 piece of jewelry. Of course, we sold out of bears. Guests had the option to donate the bears back to the Children’s Aid Foundation for children in the welfare and foster system, or they could take them home.

We look forward to the 2018 gala!
